QUESTIONS PARENTS ASK
Yes—plenty of time! Students who sign up today can choose from KD’s various summer class schedule options. Students who choose to have their curriculum shipped should still receive it before their first lesson. KD also offers extended summer hours, giving students more time for prep activities and advisor support.
It depends on the student. Some attend two to three times per week, others five. This is why we offer various class schedule options during the summer months. Students who are younger and have a longer runway may start with a class that meets once or twice per week. Rising 12th graders with approaching application deadlines typically prep more frequently. A student’s plan will vary depending on availability, learning style, and score goals.
The “best” test date will depend on a student’s unique situation such as grade level, start date, schedule, score goals, college list, and more, but summer test dates tend to be slightly more popular than school-year test dates. KD’s grade-specific orientation will provide a recommended testing timeline to help families plan ahead.
KD’s program are “travel-friendly”. Students either make up missed sessions when they return or continue with live-online classes and on-demand practice through the KD Student Portal.
The #1 cause of burnout is stagnant scores. Our orientation, monthly progress reports, workshops, advisor support, personalized test reviews, and easy make-up options keep students engaged and moving forward.
No, KD’s Complete Test Prep and Advanced Start programs continue throughout the school year. This is one of the major benefits of choosing KD. Many of our competitors only offer hourly tutoring or short-term programs that only last a number of days or weeks. We stick with students year-round, and with Complete Test Prep, access continues until graduation (if needed).
Absolutely! The PSAT test is typically given in October, so starting early on during the summer will give students plenty of runway. Complete Test Prep includes practice tests and activities designed to prepare students for the PSAT test.
Sometimes, a student just doesn’t understand how much work needs to go into the process or where colleges set the bar. That’s why we offer a free consultation with a KD advisor who can put things into perspective. Parents often leave these meetings feeling informed and ready to build a plan.
