At KD College Prep, we offer a variety of college counseling programs designed to meet families wherever they are in the college admissions journey: the APPLY NOW! Advantage Program, One-On-One College Counseling Sessions, APPLY NOW! Essay Boot Camp, the Aptitude Assessment, and the Pinnacle Program.
APPLY NOW! Advantage Program (starting in 10th or 11th Grade)
KD’s most comprehensive and best-value college counseling program guides students through the entire college application process in a small–group setting beginning in the 10th or 11th grade. 10th graders begin in the fall of the 10th grade (after the 10th grade PSAT test) with five grade-appropriate modules that lay the foundation for college application success. These small-group sessions (some of which parents may attend) range in topics from choosing the right high school courses to building a story-writing narrative to help hone a student’s ability to create a powerful college essay in the future. The five 10th grade Advantage classes are:
- “Planning for Success: Choosing the Right High School Courses” (students and parents)
- “Beyond the Classroom: Extracurricular Activities that Matter” (students and parents)
- “Researching Colleges: Exploring Your Options” (students and parents)
- “Introduction to Story-Writing Part 1: Finding Your Voice” (students)
- “Introduction to Story-Writing Part 2: Building Your Narrative” (students)
In the fall of 11th grade and continuing through the spring of 12th grade, Advantage students progress through a sequence of 14 additional lessons that cover essential pieces of the application process, including exploring majors and career, building a college list, paying for college, and more. - APPLY NOW! Essay Boot Camp- Day 3 (students)
- “Creating a Resume and Activity List” (students)
- “Completing Applications and Exploring Housing Options” (students and parents)
- “Preparing for Interviews” (students)
- “Completing the FAFSA and CSS Profile” (students and parents)
- “Comparing Financial Aid Packages and Making Your Final Decision” (students and parents)
Some of the 11th grade Advantage lessons also include unlimited guided work sessions, which are scheduled and structured work times with live, individualized feedback from members of the college counseling team.
The Advantage Program also includes the APPLY NOW! Boot Camp, two One-on-One College Counseling Sessions, and an Aptitude Assessment.

One-on-One College Counseling Sessions (7th – 12th Grade)
One-on-One College Counseling Sessions allow families to pay by the hour for expert guidance in specific areas of the admissions process tailored to your student’s needs and questions. Customized hourly sessions could include the following:
- Middle school or high school course selection
- Essay topic brainstorming and/or editing
- Building and finalizing an ideal college list
- Interview skills and more

APPLY NOW! Essay Boot Camp (12th Grade)
Boot camps are fast-paced, small-group sessions held in the summer and early fall for 12th graders to begin developing a personal statement for college admissions.
- Day 1, students work with our essay experts to select a topic and begin drafting.
- Day 2 focuses on essay structure.
- Day 3 focuses on editing skills, an introduction to supplemental essays, and continued work on the personal statement.

Aptitude Assessment (7th – 12th Grade)
7th–12th graders can use the Aptitude Assessment as a tool for exploring potential college majors and career pathways.
Short, game-like tests measure a student’s natural abilities and provide insights into strengths, interpersonal style, interest, best-fit majors, career matches, and more.
After completing the assessment, students meet one-on-one with a member of the college counseling team to review the results and discuss next steps.
