What is a college prep package?
KD’s College Prep Packages are programs that bundle together our signature Complete Test Prep program with our most comprehensive college counseling program for 11th graders, the APPLY NOW! Advantage Program. By purchasing a College Prep Package, families benefit from receiving both programs at a discounted rate. Currently, KD offers College Prep Packages for 10th and 11th graders.
Why isn’t there a college prep package for each grade level?
Great question! You probably already know that KD offers test prep programs for 7th-12th graders, and we also offer college counseling services that are relevant for those same grade levels (for an additional fee). However, we’re working on expanding our programs and package options to every grade level. In the meantime, 10th and 11th grade families can benefit from our package programs and get exactly what they need as they move closer to their college application season.
Why should I consider a college prep package for my student?
It’s possible for a family to navigate the college admissions process on their own. But it’s a labor-intensive and complicated process that parents and students often underestimate in terms of time and stress. The college admissions landscape has also changed drastically over the past 30 years—what worked in 1995 won’t have the same results today.
Choosing a college prep partner is a big decision—and one that should be made very carefully based on the unique goals and circumstances of each student. Utilizing KD’s College Prep Package gives families peace of mind and a roadmap for the challenging process of earning acceptance into a best-fit college. From test scores to making a final college decision, KD’s team of experienced advisors and college counseling guides families through every step of the way. Additionally, there are cost savings by bundling the services together.
How does a college prep package work?
It’s pretty simple. When 10th or 11th grade families decide to register with KD College Prep, they can choose the Complete Test Prep program on its own, or they can choose to register for the College Prep Package. Generally, students will focus on the test prep portion of the package first, though that timing depends on a student’s start time, goals, and outcomes. The APPLY NOW! Advantage Program (the college counseling piece of the package) begins in the fall of a student’s junior year, after the PSAT/NMSQT® test, and continues until final college decisions are made (usually in spring of the 12th grade).
When’s the best time to sign up for a college prep package?
Obviously, timing depends on the student. But the answer to this question is the same as many other questions we get about the test prep and college admissions process: Students that start early typically see the best results. Even if you decide to prep on your own or with someone else, it’s best to plan ahead and give a student plenty of time to build the best college application possible. The amount of work that needs to be done doesn’t change if you wait. You just have less time to complete it.
