10th Grade APPLY NOW!™ Advantage Program
The APPLY NOW! Advantage Program, KD’s comprehensive college counseling solution, is all about finding a student’s best college fit. Advantage students and their families are guided through the entire college application process by our experienced college counseling team at an affordable price.
The APPLY NOW! Advantage Program begins in the fall of 10th grade (after the 10th grade PSAT test) with five grade-appropriate modules that lay the foundation for college application success. These small-group sessions range in topics from choosing the right high school courses to building a story-writing narrative to help hone a student’s ability to create a powerful college essay in the future. (See a list of 10th grade Advantage lessons below.)
In the fall of 11th grade, Advantage students transition to a new set of 16 small-group lessons that cover essential topics such as building and finalizing a balanced college list, paying for college, writing admissions essays in the APPLY NOW! Boot Camp, understanding financial aid, completing applications, and so much more. (See a list of 11th grade Advantage lessons below.) Some of the lessons also include labs, which are scheduled and structured work times with live, individualized feedback from members of the college counseling team.
The Advantage program features additional individualized support with two One-on-One College Counseling Sessions. These sessions are conducted with a member of the college counseling team and focus on specific areas of the college admissions process based on the student’s priorities and areas of need. Many Advantage students use these 1:1 sessions for assistance with their college list or additional help with admissions essays, among other topics. These two sessions can be used in the 10th or 11th grade, depending on a student’s individual goals and needs. APPLY NOW! Advantage students may also purchase additional One-on-One College Counseling Sessions at a reduced hourly rate. Advantage students will also be assigned a member of the college counseling team to serve as their accountability partner to help keep everyone on track.
The APPLY NOW! Advantage Program also includes an Aptitude Assessment, where students can find out “how their brain works in the real world”—determining strengths and interests that can help guide choices such as course selections, fields of study, career paths, and more. The assessment will generally be conducted in the 10th grade.
The APPLY NOW! Advantage Program will take place via Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or a similar online collaboration platform. Schedule a free consultation to find out more.

These small-group sessions (3 days, 2 hours/day) are offered in the summer and fall of each year. These events guide 12th grade students through the development of a college essay/personal statement, which can be used or adapted for college applications. Advantage students get to choose their camp session dates before the general public.
Two One-on-One College Counseling Sessions
- Students will have two one-on-one, hour-long sessions with a member of the college counseling team. These individual sessions focus on a specific area of the admissions process based on the student’s priorities and/or areas of need and can be used in 10th or 11th grade.
- APPLY NOW! Advantage students may also purchase additional One-on-One College Counseling Sessions at a reduced hourly rate of $375, normally priced at $450/hour.
Interactive Labs
- Some 11th Grade Advantage Lessons (Letters of Recommendation, Resume, Activity List, Personal Statement, Supplemental Essays, and Common Application) also feature structured work times, in which students will work on and produce items such as a resume or personal statement. The labs, each of which can be attended multiple times, provide students with additional opportunities for individualized feedback from members of the college counseling team. (Please note that some of the items produced in labs will need more work or editing before being submitted as part of an application process.)
Aptitude Assessment
- An aptitude assessment helps students understand “how their brain works in the real world” by identifying strengths and interests through a series of activities. The resulting data and the one-on-one counseling session following the assessment can help guide important decisions such as course selections, college list, field of study choices, career opportunities, and more. The assessment is generally conducted during the 10th grade.
“Office Hours”
- During specific “office hours”, members of the college counseling team will be available via online collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or phone to answer questions or provide additional help.
