Justin Vaughan
“…we all need mercy, we all need justice, and—perhaps—we all need some measure of unmerited grace.” – Bryan Stevenson
Justin Vaughan was born and raised in Arlington, attended the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) as an undergrad and law school at Texas Wesleyan (now Texas A&M). He currently lives in the greatest little town in Texas—Denton! He is a jack of all trades with a wide range of educational interests (science, computer programming, law) and a diverse set of work experiences.
Whether he is writing curriculum or codicils, parsing code or contracts, the process remains the same: identify the relevant issues, then brainstorm ideas, and then implement the best ideas into solutions (rinse and repeat as needed).
Justin works best when he is solving problems and has been a member of the KD College Prep family since 1999.
Fun Facts About Justin:
What do you like best about KD College Prep?
“Definitely the PEOPLE! I am constantly amazed by the bright and talented students that come through our doors year after year. These gifted young people give me so much hope for the future. I also have the privilege to work with a great team of smart, kind, and dedicated co-workers.”
What is your List of Loves?
“I love music, especially live music. My wife and I enjoy going to concerts and music performances whenever we can. I’m also a huge baseball fan. I loved coaching my son’s little league teams and, now that he’s in high school, I enjoy going to watch him play. When I have free moments, I love doing crossword and sudoku puzzles.”
What is something interesting about the school you attended?
“UTD’s teams are called the Comets – the name is a callback to the space research that the school was heavily involved in shortly after it was founded.”
What would you go back and say to your 16-year-old self?
“Don’t be so hard on yourself. Setbacks or mistakes can only turn into failures if you stop trying to push forward. Also, try sushi sooner! You’ll love it!”
