Free Ask the Experts Webinar
The Power of a Standout Essay
Date: Wednesday, July 29th, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. CST.
Location: Virtual (via Zoom)
Go beyond essay myths and hear directly from admissions professionals about what makes a student’s story stand out.
This webinar is designed to help families better understand one of the most personal and often misunderstood components of the college application: the essay. Through a live panel featuring admissions representatives, families will gain an insider’s perspective on how admissions professionals evaluate personal statements and supplemental essays as part of the application review process.
Join us for a discussion with:
- Beverly Wheeler, Associate Vice President and Dean of Admission, Austin College
- Christina Parish, Associate Director of Admissions, Clark University
- Brandon Turner, Assistant Director of National Recruitment, Texas, University of Minnesota–Twin Cities
- Cassondra Parkerson, Admissions Counselor, University of Washington
During this special event, families will get an insider’s perspective on what admissions professionals look for in essays and what students should pay extra attention to throughout the writing process. The goal is for families to walk away with a clearer understanding that:
- There is no single “perfect” essay topic.
- Authenticity and self-reflection matter more than impressing admissions officers.
- Strong essays reveal character, values, and personal growth.
- Supplemental essays help colleges understand fit and community contribution.
- Essays are most effective when they complement the rest of the application.
This event is open to the public, but space is limited. Registration is required. Please sign up by noon on 7/28/26 to guarantee your spot. Encourage your friends to register!
