“Be joyful. Be fearless.” – Unknown
Kara is a lifelong resident of the DFW metroplex and proud to be a native Texan. A graduate of Faith Christian High School in Grapevine and Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene where she received her degree in elementary education, Kara always planned on being a teacher. She spent her early career working with preschoolers before she found her way to KD. Ten years later, Kara is putting all of her experience to work in leading the KD operations team.
“I’m the behind-the-scenes ninja making sure that things run smoothly. You aren’t quite sure who did the things, but you’re glad they’re done.” That’s Kara! #OperationsNinja.
Fun Facts About Kara:
What do you like best about KD College Prep?
“The relationships—with my coworkers, with my students, and with our families. We truly are one giant family, and I love that. Also, watching our students reach their goals. Nothing beats seeing their excitement.”
What is your List of Loves?
“I love volleyball. I don’t play as much as I used to, but I always have so much fun when I do. I really enjoy crafting and making things. Painting is also really fun and relaxing. Baking is another favorite. I make a mean chocolate chip cookie—more chocolate, less cookie. I also am a sucker for trying ‘Limited Edition’ flavors of things, even if I only end up eating one and the rest end up in the breakroom.”
What is something interesting about the school you attended?
“All freshman receive a beanie at the Beanie Capping Ceremony after Stampede (New Student Orientation). You’re supposed to wear it during the first week of classes so that upperclassmen can introduce themselves as you walk around campus. They can even sign it for you so you have a keepsake for life. It’s a really cool tradition.”
What would you go back and say to your 16-year-old self?
“Stop saying no to things. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. It’s ok to have some fun!”
